Intense Pulse Light is a very effective way to rejuvenate the skin by boosting collagen growth and restoring lost elasticity resulting in younger looking, more volumised and smoother skin.

How does it work?

Controlled short pulses of light are released into the deeper layers of the skin which in turn stimulates fibroblast cells resulting in an increased production of new collagen and elastin.  This process leads to rejuvenated skin and improvement in appearance, texture and fullness.

How is it carried out?

The IPL handpiece is placed onto the skin and a pulse of light is released, this process is repeated to cover the full treatment area, protective eye wear is provided and a typical treatment will last approximately 30 minutes.

What should I expect after treatment?

You may have slight redness and a warming sensation to the skin however this is temporary and will subside.  Tightening of the skin and improved skin tone should increase over the following months when new collagen is produced.

How many treatments?

This is best discussed during consultation however with this treatment you can have up to 6 sessions at 2-3 weeks apart and then top up sessions thereafter if required.

What does the procedure feel like?

It has been described to resemble a similar feeling to a flicking to the skin like a small elastic band.

Is IPL safe?

IPL is considered a safe procedure, after a full consultation you will be given a test dose procedure initially, this will not take long and it is carried out in order to find the best setting option to suit your skin type. There is a small risk of a burn following IPL similar to sunburn however this should settle within a few days.
