Intense Pulse Light is a safe and effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions such as Rosacea, pigmentation and acne. It is carried out in a skilful and careful way to maximise the benefits and keep the risks of the treatment to an acceptable level therefore a test dose is carried out first for this reason.

How effective is IPL?

IPL is an effective treatment to reduce the symptoms of Rosacea which is reddening of the skin and can prove to be an unpleasant symptom that many people suffer from.

IPL is also effective and can be an amazing treatment to reduce pigmentation marks on the skin caused by sun damage and other factors.

The treatment is also used as a skin rejuvenation anti-ageing procedure due to it causing collagen stimulation and therefore skin cell renewal.

Is IPL safe?

IPL is considered a safe procedure, after a full consultation you will be given a test dose procedure initially, this will not take long and it is carried out in order to find the best setting option to suit your skin type. There is a small risk of a burn following IPL similar to sunburn however this should settle within a few days.

What does the procedure feel like?

It has been described to resemble a similar feeling to a flicking to the skin like a small elastic band.

How many treatments will I need?

It is generally suggested that 3 treatments may be required 4 weeks apart, however this may require more or less depending on the person and skin issue being treated.
